Emergency Department & Waiting Area upgrade - IRH

This project was one of the most challenging and satisfying projects over the career of Alterego Consultancy.

This unit was the main receiving unit for Inverclyde, which is a vast area. It was extremely dated, inefficient and inadequate for current patient control and in many cases detrimental to modern day standards.

Extensive consultation was arranged prior to commencing work to enable us to scope requirements, based on the understanding of existing arrangements and why these particular aspects could be improved. Gaining knowledge of patient flow and staff working practices was essential.

The most important challenge was maintaining operational requirements during construction. To manage this effectively we introduced a multi - phased programme, on agreement with stakeholders and monitored this on a regular hourly and daily basis.

Success was only achieved by effective productive and constructive co-ordination and smooth flow of communication supportively of the following designations.

• Alterego Consultancy
• Design Team
• Main Contractor
• Facilities
• Estates
• Infection Control
• Stakeholder Management
• Health & Safety
• Fire Advisor

The project has now been hailed as perfect example of what can be done correctly to improve Healthcare environments with the most important elements in place.

Compliments from all directions including stakeholders, other staff and management, visitors and patients and Council officials offered compliments on how this state of the art facility dramatically improved patient care.

Stakeholders made immediate observations on how there working conditions had improved substantially as a result of the project improvements.

The New Emergency Unit was officially opened by the Chairman of Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

Project value - £1.292 Million.
